The Jewish Society at SOAS aims to offer education about Judaism in general for everyone – Jew or non-Jew. One of our goals is to provide students at SOAS (especially those from overseas) with an insight into British Jewish life and Jewish customs and festivals in general. We are planning on holding events (background information, celebration, different customs, services/prayers) for all major festivals – if possible - and will hold other events such as film screenings and Holocaust Memorial Day.
NEXT EVENT:
Chanukkah celebration on December 14 at 7pm in the JCR
Everyone is welcome! There’s going to be a short service (in English, Hebrew and transliterated so everyone can follow), candle lightning, doughnuts, latkes, kosher wine and a Klezmer Band (Kavona Klezmer Trio!)!
Anyone who needs information about nice shuls in and around London, feels alone on shabbat or is generally interested in Judaism is welcome to join and/or come along to any of our events!
